The Yamaha FZ1 is an under-appreciated bike. Introduced in 2001, it gave you the power of a modified R1 engine (145 hp) with all-day ergonomics. Low-end power suffered compared to the competition, but it was silly amounts of fun over 8,000 rpm.
For more on the FZ1, check out this story on Cycle World. It’s called “Why The Original Yamaha FZ1 Was So Damn Good”, which should presumably tell you how much CW liked the bike.
This example has 15,964 miles and it’s equipped with a Yoshimura exhaust. The bumblebee paint scheme may not be for everyone, but it’s hard to argue with this much bike for a little over three grand. Find this FZ1 for sale in Englewood, Colorado for $3,199 here on Craigslist.
