11-22 Update: This Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory has been relisted here on eBay with a starting bid of $7,000.
In the mid to late 2000’s, Aprilia produced one of the best liter bikes the world had ever seen…the Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory. Consumers didn’t respond as favorably as they should have, possibly because these bikes didn’t have “Ducati” on the tank. But no matter – that just makes it a better used bike purchase for you!
Based on the regular RSV 1000 R, the Factory comes with extras like a fully adjustable Öhlins Racing rear monoshock and adjustable Öhlins steering damper, blue anodized forged aluminium wheels, a black-finished frame, and excessive amounts of carbon fiber. You also got ‘signatures’ from Noriyuki Haga and Colin Edwards, the 2 most famous riders of this bike in competition. Producing 143 horsepower at 5 digit RPM’s, the RSV was probably more of a true supersport than any of its competitors. On the road or on the track, many consider it to be the fastest and most aggressive of all the supersports. 2004 also saw the release of the even more exclusive Nera edition.
This specific Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory has just 160 miles – you’re basically getting a brand new example. Whether the Factory version is exclusive enough to command the seller’s desired price premium is the question. In addition, remember that a bike with such few miles over the last decade may need a few things checked out, especially rubber hoses and gaskets. The bike looks to be in almost perfect cosmetic shape with the exception of a minor ding on the right exhaust can that the seller does not mention, though it’s visible in photos.
