Here’s Matt’s first post – featuring the juggernaut that is the BMW GSA!
The liquid cooled GS adventure now starts north of 18 grand. But what if you wanted to pretend to be Ewan McGregor and didn’t have that kind of cash to throw around? Do we have the bike for you. Here’s a 2004 GSA for under $8,000. In some ways you could actually argue this bike is better than the next two generations. Many thought the 1200cc model that replaced it had too many electric aids that could go wrong on that trip you’ve been dreaming of taking. With only one owner and 19,190 miles, it’s very clean and ready for some Touratech panniers and tons of other accessories available aftermarket. In the future, these bikes are likely going to become collector pieces. They were the first model designated “Adventure”, had the large tank and the 1150 motor that didn’t ‘miss’ like its predecessors.
It also has a 6th gear and great fairing for the super slab, in case your own personal Paris-Dakar rally gets rained out. I have the same engine in my R1150R and the only time the 85 horses hasn’t been plenty was at high altitudes (above 10,000 around the continental divide). Ironically this has similar horsepower to the F800gs. I think I’d rather have the R bike with its goofy headlight though.
