To celebrate its 200th win in WSBK, Ducati released 200 examples of their top of the line 999R in the Team Ducati FILA livery of 2003. 75 were supposed to make it to the US but it’s possible that just 67 were initially imported.
It’s easy to mock Ducati’s recent special editions as just cosmetic packages, but this bike got some extras in addition to all the goodies that came with the R – a WSBK inspired swingarm and carbon fiber bodywork, for examples. For more information on the FILA, check out this profile from Sport Rider. This example is #49 of the 67 that were imported to the US, according to the seller. In addition to some small cosmetic pieces, this bike was given a full Termignoni exhaust and a biposto conversion – the former is great, the latter is an odd choice. With that said, the original tail/subframe are included so you can get this bike back to monoposto in a couple of hours if you so wish.
No matter what you do with the seating arrangement, get rid of the Nicky Hayden sticker on the rear tail! Find this 999R FILA for sale here in Harrison Township, Michigan for $16,500 here on Craigslist.
