Post Listing Update: Initially, this 749R did not meet reserve with 18 bids up to $8,300. It was relisted and then pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown.
The styling of Ducati’s 749R was polarizing: it seems like for every person that liked the way it looked, you could find four people who didn’t. But thanks to a slipper clutch, Ohlins suspension, and lower weight (despite a larger fuel tank) than the 749, there was one thing every rider could agree on – this middleweight was a blast to ride.
It didn’t hurt that the R got a bump in power up to 121 horsepower/62 pound-feet of torque thanks to titanium connecting rods and valves, racing cams, and a shorter stroke with increased bore. Visordown called it “a nearly perfect bike” that “allows you to push harder than ever”. In addition to the mechanical upgrades, owners were treated to their production number stamped on the triple tree.
This example (serial # 0051) has 4,841 miles and the seller says it’s in “superior cosmetic and mechanical condition.” He believes it was originally sold by Fast by Ferracci into the state of Pennsylvania, and then it moved its way around to multiple states before arriving in Illinois. The seller has owned it for the last 24 months and during that time he’s replaced several parts including the lower fairings, fuel tank sound deadening, fasteners, and plenty more.
