“Gorilla in a Tuxedo.” That’s how Motorcycle.com described the K1200R, a naked version of BMW’s K1200S sportbike. It was fast, heavy, and a bit quirky – I liked it so much that I bought a used one for myself.
I still have my K1200R, though it doesn’t get much use nowadays as I’m usually on press bikes. But back in the day, I used it for plenty of high-velocity commuting and the occasional 1,000-miles-in-24-hours trip:
Wet weight is 546 pounds, motivated by a 1,157cc inline-4 that produces 163 horsepower and 94 lb-ft of torque. It’s a bike that feels better the faster you go…so don’t go slow! For more on the K1200R, check out the review on Motorcycle.com.
This example is set up for comfort and touring with a Sargent seat plus rear cowl with storage, ABM handlebar with risers, taller factory windscreen, factory hard bags, and a tank bag mount. The seller states that this K12R was given a full fluid flush this year in preparation for the sale, and everything is said to work.
