2007 BMW G650 XChallenge

A slightly tangential evolution of the F650GS, the BMW G650X XChallenge was arguably the German firm’s most dedicated off-roader. With help from Aprilia and an engine from Rotax, the XChallenge (pronounce Cross Challenge) was defined as a “hard enduro.”

The Rotax engine is a 650cc single, a re-worked, refined example of what used to power the popular F650. BMW was able to save 4 pounds of weight from the engine and bump up output to 53 horsepower and 44 ft-lb of torque. You got plenty of spring travel and optional ABS that could be turned off with a button. The only complaint people really had with this bike was the rear air shock, which nearly everyone replaced with an aftermarket spring.

This example has roughly 20,000 miles on it, and a few of those were covered when the seller spent two weeks on the Trans America Trail with it in 2020. He notes some scratches on the wheels but he says “the body plastics are incredibly clean and look new without scratches or blemishes.” Modifications include a 1.5″ lowering kit, Seat Customs low seat, HyperPro shock, Touratech rally fairing, and a Garmin GPS.
