12-27-13 Update: The seller has let us know that this bike is still up for sale, so we figured we’d refresh your memory!
When it comes to streetbikes, it’s harder to have much fun (at legal speeds) than when you’re riding a supermoto. For just two years and 1,700 units, Buell channeled the supermoto feel and created the XB12STT, a tweaked version of their Lightning streetfighter. Those of you with off-road backgrounds will feel instantly comfortable once you hop on the single seat of the Super TT, which is much narrower than any I-4 sportbike.
With the veritable 1203 cc Thunderstorm V-Twin pushing out 100 horsepower, this bike was capable of 133 miles per hour and tons of smiles. Though not as ‘flickable’ as a Ducati Hypermotard, which you might consider a competitor based on my above description, this bike is able to blend high agility with high speed stability due to long travel suspension and an extended swingarm compared to the bike it was based on. Other differences include the 6 spoke wheels, supermoto-style front fender, crossbar handlebars, and the rear side panels (though you won’t get the panels on this specific bike).
This specific Buell XB12SST is in excellent shape and has just over 7,000 miles. There’s one mechanical issue – it needs a fan, but the seller will replace it for you for the asking price. Unlike most of the Super TT’s, this bike has been setup for 2-up riding, so you don’t get the distinctive number plates in the back, but you do get footpegs in the rear. You’ll also get pannier mounts to replace the number plates, though you’re on your own to source actual luggage.
Find this Buell XB12STT for sale here on Craigslist for $5,500 in Atlanta, Georgia.
