Walter Barlow has been a frequent contributor to Bike-urious over the years – this time he’s got a bike for sale! I’ll leave the description to him:
One of the most exhilarating bikes I’ve ever ridden. Reminds me why I got involved with motorcycles all those years ago (instant everything!) – as well as reminding me I’m far from that kid these days lol. The truth is that at 72+, I’ve apparently aged out of it (more properly my neck has). The triangle just isn’t working for me. Other than my neck issue, I’ve made the bike very comfortable. I guess it’s time for a nice relaxing old man’s bike – like a 1290 Super Duke GT.
2007 KTM 990 Super Duke. 15,000 miles, fairly recent front tire (~1,500 miles), brand new rear, fresh oil/filter change, installed upgraded water pump shaft seal last summer with a full service. With the installed Power Commander and Akrapovic exhaust, the bike runs very well and exhibits none of the poor gas mileage and snatchy throttle that plagues many of these bikes.
Installed ROX risers, Knight Designs lowered foot pegs, Kaoko throttle, Grab-On closed cell foam grips, lithium battery late last year, G5 throttle tamer, power plug in the dashboard, RAM mount, SAE pigtail lead on the switched accessory circuit, power outlet in seat area, tail tidy, large KTM tank bag as well as an SW-Motech EVO locking Micro tank bag.
There’s a scuff mark on the left side tank fairing and a small dent on the rear wheel – both courtesy of the original owner. Other than that, everything is fine and the bike is in very good condition and runs very well.
$6,000 or best reasonable offer – I’m motivated, so don’t be shy (but don’t be insulting) and I can reasonably help with delivery. I’m located in central New Jersey. If you’re interested in this Super Duke, email me: abhi AT bike-urious DOT com and I’ll put you in touch with Walter.
