Post Listing Update: This RVF was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown.

The RVF400 is not well known in the US as it was never officially sold outside of the Japan. But for people in the know that are lucky enough to get their hands on one, this Honda (also known as the NC35) is one of the best 400cc sportbikes ever made.

The 399cc DOHC V4 engine is liquid-cooled and comes with gear driven cams and four 28mm carbs – apparently they sound fantastic. It produces a maximum of 59 horsepower, but you’ll need to be at 13,000 rpm to feel all those ponies. Want to learn more about why this bike is so special? Check out this review from MCN who say that “in its day it handled with all the agility and precision of a 250cc Grand Prix bike compared to old litre-sized buses like the GSX-R1100, and relatively big supersports machines like the FZR600.

This example is said to be a time capsule that’s in “original incredible condition” with just 2,007 miles, and the seller includes a ton of photos for you to take a closer look for yourself. It was imported from Japan over a decade and a half ago and it’s said to have spent most of its life in indoor storage. It’s titled in the US and it starts, runs, and idles but the seller did not want to put any miles on it. If you disagree with that intent, you should install new tires and change out the fluids though the seller notes that it got fresh oil, coolant, and brake fluid when it was put into storage. The bike is currently plated in Arizona, which should be good enough for all states except California. The sale includes both original keys, the tool kit, the owners manual, and the passenger foot pegs (which have been removed). The only flaws seem to be two small scratches in the left lower fairing and a dab of touch up paint on the right lower fairing.
