Post Listing Update: This Tre-K did not get any interest at the opening bid of $6,900 on eBay.
On my way out to Florida to attempt the Coast to Coast in 50 Hour Challenge, I spent Day 4 with Bike-urious reader Rusty M. He’s got a wonderful collection of motorcycles in Tennessee, though it looks like it’s about to get one smaller – knowing him, it’s probably just to make room for one or maybe two more bikes.
A quick peek at Rusty’s collection – click here to see more. You’ll note that the Tre-K is right next to a Triumph Tiger Sport – how fitting that Motorcycle.com did a review directly comparing the two back in 2009.
As long as you don’t mind having almost non-existent dealer support, a modern Benelli offers an incredible riding experience in a package that makes Ducatis seem run of the mill. While most people think of sport bikes or naked superbikes like the Tornado or TnT when they hear of Benelli, some journalists (like Michael Neeves with Motorcycle News) thought the Tre-K, a street-oriented tourer that’s similar to a Multistrada – to be the best new Benelli yet.
The engine produces 123 horsepower and 85 pound feet of torque, and Neeves said it was “10 times more exciting” than the powerplant in the 1100 Multistrada. In addition to the exclusivity factor, this bike was supposedly a “practical, user-friendly motorcycle brought to life by a huge injection of Italian charm, speed, and handling.” Quite a lot of praise, then.
This example has 12,607 miles and it includes the factory hard bags and tank bag, plus the taller factory windshield. The seller has had it for almost a decade and he says it’s perfect. Rusty’s throwing in a aftermarket billet aluminum tail tidy and some spare parts, plus he notes that the battery and tires are new.
