Over on the auction site we’ve got one of the last examples of the first generation of MV Agusta’s legendary F4 1000. You wouldn’t be alone if you though the MV Agusta F4 was the world’s most beautiful motorcycle – but styling is subjective. What can’t be argued is speed, and the F4 R 312 was, when released in 2008, the world’s fastest motorcycle. That’s where the “312” in the name comes from – it’s the MV’s top speed in kilometers. In miles, it’s 193.87. Whatever the unit, it’s an impressive number!
The next year, MV added an extra R to the name and inserted the even larger 1,078cc engine they debuted in the ultra-exclusive F4 CC, yielding a bump in power to 190 hp at 12,200 rpm. This was a 9 horsepower increase over the previous year’s F4 R 312, which itself offered a 7 horsepower increase over the standard model. The 1078 RR also benefitted from a new slipper clutch in 2009 and a new instrument panel in 2010. Those extras complemented other top-notch components such as Brembo monobloc brakes, Marzocchi suspension, and Marchesini forged wheels. MV Agusta sent 150 units to the US per WSBK homologation rules – 50 in each of 3 color options: Racing Red/Silver, Black/Anthracite, or Pearl White/Gloss Black.
This example (VIN: ZCGFAFVW89V009332) is offered by the second owner. “A very close friend of mine in NJ who is an engineer and pilot sold the bike to me in 2019. All services were performed by him and I did the 10k service myself upon transfer. I currently own 9 MV Agustas and have been an avid enthusiast since first seeing the F4 Oro at the Guggenheim Museum in NYC over 2 decades ago.” The odometer shows 9,371 miles.
