In 2010, KTM started importing the RC8R to the US. To celebrate, they released two limited edition models, both of which had just 25 examples produced. One was the IDM Red Bull Edition, the other is this post’s subject – the KTM RC8R Akrapovic Edition.

The 1195cc V-Twin engine makes 170 horsepower and good torque, which helps this bike in the city, but this really is the ‘hooligan’ choice of bike over rivals like the Ducati 1198 or BMW S1000RR. Dry weight is just 410 pounds, and you’ll get Brembo monoblocs and fully-adjustable WP suspension in the front and rear. The limited edition gained a few things over the base model, including a limited edition number plate, the special fairings, and an optional race kit which includes an Akra titanium exhaust system, thinner head gaskets, better air filter, and a tool that adjusts camshafts to become more aggressive.

This specific KTM RC8R Akrapovic Edition (VIN: VBKVR9407AM969913) is #8 of 25 and has 1,650 miles on the odometer. It’s unclear if this bike came with the optional race kit, but it does have some extras including a HID kit, gear selector indicator, and an uninstalled kit that places turn signals on the rear pegs – now that’s an interesting idea.
