Some of my favorite deals in the motorcycling world are when you can pick up a basically brand new bike for thousands off because the new owner has to sell for whatever reason – assuming you’re not the kind of person who has to have a new bike. With a bike as exciting as the KTM Super Duke 1290, what’s not to love about saving a couple of grand?
The Super Duke R puts out 151 horsepower, which is good enough to propel it to 60 miles per hour in 2.6 seconds on the way to a top speed of 163 miles per hour. I can’t say I’ve ever ridden one, so take a look at this Cycle World comparison between the Super Duke, Tuono V4, and S1000R, where they suggest that this bike is a tremendous amount of fun thanks to ample torque and very nimble handling.
This specific KTM Super Duke 1290 has just 350 miles and comes with a few extras including R&G frame sliders, bar ends, frame plugs, and front axle sliders, though those aren’t shown in the photos. It’s currently setup as a track bike with mirrors and tail piece removed, but you can get this back into street mode in 30 minutes. The only difference from a new bike seems to be the extra pieces, scraped pegs from the track day, and a pittance of miles.
Find this KTM Super Duke 1290 for sale here on ADVRider (registration required) in Long Island, New York for $15,000 – compare that to an OTD price of $17,100.
