It’s been a few years since the new Norton Commando was made available in the US. Known as the 961, it was offered in 4 variants – the SF, Sport, Cafe Racer, and a limited production Special Edition. Here’s one of the first Cafe Racers that made it to the US with just 511 miles. The new bikes are sold out so going used is your best option if you just have to have one now.
All 961s get goodies like USD Ohlins forks. The cafe racer differs from the other models only in cosmetic features, as far as I can tell. Said features include the clip on handlebars and the carbon fiber flyscreen.
The seller ordered this bike back in 2011 – he just had to have a “new” Norton. It took 42 months before his bike was ready to enjoy. It was the first Commando in the state of Colorado and the 27th in the US. Apparently the seller had to go through some troubles to register it. Despite all of his waiting and registration hassles, he’s only put 511 miles on it and it’s still not even broken in. The seller’s never revved the motor up beyond 4,000 rpm. It’s stock and always been stored covered in a garage.
Find this modern Norton for sale here on Craigslist in Lafayette, Colorado fro $18,500.
