This bike puts down 65 horsepower and it weighs just 210 pounds. Frankly, that should be all I need to say to sell you on this, but I can guess we can learn a little bit about how Zaeta was formed. In 2007, Paolo Chiaia was in the US and was inspired to try and bring flat track racing to Italy. In the process, he decided to build his own version, and the resulting DT (dirt tracker) model was a thing of beauty. Zaeta has since expanded with a street legal model called the 530SE, and this is claimed to be the only one in the US.
I wish I could send you to a review of this bike so you could get a better idea of what it’s like, but there’s very little information out there at the moment on the street legal Zaetas (and at least as I write this post up, it looks like their website doesn’t work). The engine is a single from Italian manufacturer TM, and it’s chock full of trick components…which should give you a heads up on the asking price. From the photos you’ll see a crazy looking Termi exhaust, as well as a plaque that states this is the first SE exported to North America. According to the seller, Zaeta just got their homologation certification in California so this bike is street legal and ready to go. It’s not often that you get a chance to get such a rare bike new, so step right up if you’ve got the cash.
Find this Zaeta for sale in Costa Mesa, California for $24,499 here on Craigslist through Newport Italian.
