You may have caught the news recently that MV Agusta has managed to buy its way out of its partnership with the deeply troubled KTM and is, in its own words, “back to running on its own.”

“This is a moment of pride for all of us at MV Agusta,” a press release quotes CEO Timur Saradarov as saying. “Regaining full control of the company means we are now stronger and more focused than ever on delivering excellence.”

Whether this is a good thing remains to be seen. MV Agusta’s gone through a lot of ‘strategic partners’ over the years. This bike comes from one of the brand’s more tumultuous periods, when it was crippled by debt and parts supply issues. Counterintuitively, it was also a time when the quality of MV Agusta bikes was improving.

The Brutale 800 America was unveiled in June 2017 and is effectively just a red, white, and blue Brutale 800. Its asking price was $14,998. Meanwhile, the standard Brutale 800 was highly rated by moto-journalists at the time. Jensen Beeler declared that the 2016 version of the bike signalled “an elevation of MV Agusta, from a brand with a shiny veneer and little beneath the surface, to a motorcycle company that can not only tug on the heartstrings of our moto-lust, but can also pique our more reasonable senses.”

Driven by a 798cc three-cylinder engine, the Brutale 800 promised a peak power output of 116 hp, which was down from the previous generation due to European environmental regulations. But torque was increased to 61 lb-ft, with more of it arriving in the midrange, where street riders are more likely to be. (Don’t know about you, but I certainly never rev something to 14,000 rpm when I’m rolling through town)

As far as this special-edition Brutale 800 America is concerned, only 50 were made. One for each state. There’s a Canada joke in here somewhere but I’m not going to touch it.

With just 621 miles on the clock, this Brutale 800 America has a Buy It Now price of $13,999 and is for sale in Brooklyn, New York, here on eBay.
