Built by Jeff Palhegyi in 40 hours, this Yamaha SCR950 has been converted to a street tracker after (according to the seller) it was built as a Super Hooligan bike for Ryan Villopoto.
The claim is possible as it was around this time that Villopoto signed with Yamaha as a brand ambassador and announced that he was going to compete in some Super Hooligan flat track, though I never heard of anything coming from that beyond the announcement itself. As noted in the above link, my buddy Rennie raced a very similar bike for a great story in Cycle News, though he did end up having a nasty crash.
It’s unclear to me if this bike for sale is the same one that Rennie raced (having been rebuilt after the crash) or if it’s a different one but they sure look similar.
The first press launch I ever attended was for the Yamaha SCR950 and I thought it was adequate. I like this version much more, and the SCR makes a lot more sense as a flat tracker styled bike than the scrambler that Yamaha originally positioned it as.
