How is it that I have been writing about motorcycles for so many years and had never come across a ScootCoupe?! Until stumbling upon this ad I had never before heard of them.
Is this a thing? Have you seen these? Apparently they’ve been around since 2004!
Looking like an adult version of a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe, the ScootCoupe is the brainchild of Florida businessman Dominick Livoti Jr., who was eager to develop a low-powered side-by-side for use in tourist areas. He partnered with engineer Jerry Liu to make the dream a reality. Twenty years later, the ScootCoupe is apparently now a mainstay of tourist towns, from Las Vegas to Branson.
The ad calls this a Piaggio ScootCoupe, which, although technically incorrect, isn’t wrong. The three-wheeler with handlebar-style steering is built around a Vespa engine. In this case, it’s a 50cc unit that’s been upgraded to 80 cc thanks to a big bore kit. With the extra capacity, this little thing is capable of 35-40 mph, according to the seller.
I feel this would be the perfect vehicle to give a teenage boy: the perfect vehicle for all kinds of stupidity but with a lower chance of getting them killed.
Assuming it hasn’t been swept away by Hurricane Milton, you can find this ScootCoupe for sale in Gainesville, Florida for $1,900 here on Facebook Marketplace.
