2024 KTM RC 8C

When KTM introduced the RC 8C as a 2022 model, the initial run of 100 sold out in 4 minutes and 32 seconds even though people really didn’t know what to expect. The following year KTM offered up 200 examples. People were more familiar with the bike this time around all 200 sold out in 2 minutes and 38 seconds. 2024 brings the third production run (100 units), but it looks like the market may be saturated – pre-orders have been open for three days and an unknown amount of bikes are still available.

I’m not trying to knock the RC 8C when I say that – it’s an incredible bike (and I’m a very happy owner of the little sibling). But I’ve always wondered how many buyers there were for a 890cc parallel-twin track bike that doesn’t fit neatly into an existing race class, especially as it’s basically a Kramer 890 (which you can get for cheaper).

Here are the basics, according to KTM:
Limited to only 100 units worldwide
Handbuilt for track use exclusively
Moto2 levels of performance
135 hp, 142 kg dry weight
Dedicated racing exhaust with Akrapovic titanium muffler
Dedicated air box and racing air filter
Dedicated frame made with 25CrMo4 steel tubular
WP APEX PRO fork and WP APEX PRO shock COMPONENTS suspension
Race-spec Brembo brake components

KTM allows offers a special Track Delivery Experience where you can accept your bike at Algarve International Circuit (Portimao, where MotoGP is racing right now). You’ll get your bike setup by WP Suspension techs, have a meet and greet with some KTM VIPs, and obviously, ride one of the best tracks in the world. To participate in this, you’ll have to buy KTM’s Track Parts Package, which includes:

Extra set of Dymag wheels (Front and Rear)
Extra set of front and rear brake discs
Front and rear paddock stands
Tire warmers
KTM Race carpet

The track experience is $5,500 and the track parts are one penny under $6,000, so you’ll be out $11,500 plus transportation…and that’s before you pay for the bike.

If you were interested in one of these I’m sure you’ve already bought one, but if for some reason you’ve missed the news then you can put down your $1,000 deposit towards the $41,499 purchase price here on the KTM website.

Who knows, maybe we’ll see a simpler/cheaper street version someday…
