In the early 90s, most major motorcycle manufacturers entered a gentlemen’s agreement to cap horsepower at 125. Triumph decided that when they were going to bring the bikes back from the new plant in Hinckley, that the best way for them to get attention was to ignore said agreement: enter the 147 horsepower Triumph Daytona 1200. A year after the bike went out of production, Triumph brought back the 1200 for a limited Special Edition run of just 250.
All the Special Edition bikes were adorned in a beautiful black and gold livery. It also came with individually numbered plates on the headstock and 6-piston caliper brakes from the Daytona Super III.
This example (VIN: SMTTC354CRX071684) is #248 out of 250. It’s claimed to have had one previous owner – I see that the bike sold at an auction in the UK in 2022 for roughly $2,500 but I can’t see the auction details to confirm. It’s got a healthy 54,299 miles on the odometer and aftermarket color-matched dual silencers. The seller says this is “believed to be the only Triumph SE in the United States” but that’s definitely not true, I’ve featured a few here previously. It does come with the UK plate, though:
If you buy this, you should check in with this forum and let them know where the bike went! Either way, find this Daytona for sale in Fenton, Missouri with bidding up to $2,200 and the reserve not yet met here on eBay.
