9-6-2022 Update: Four years later, this bike is back up on the auction block. Normally when I share a bike years later and it’s in a different state, it’s because the bike has sold a time or two. But this time it’s in a different country (England) because the owner himself moved! Regardless, this is an incredible example of a Z1 and I’m curious to see if time and/or a different location helps get the deal done. Post Listing Update: Bidding jumped around all over the place on this one. eBay’s bid history shows that someone had a $40k(!) bid but retracted it so the action went back down to under $20k. The bidding was at $19,900 when the seller pulled the bike off of eBay, and as of 9-9-18 it has not sold yet.

One of the most legendary motorcycles of all time, the Z1 has been a frequent feature here on the pages of Bike-urious. This example stands out as it’s number 265 off the production line – plus I personally rode this bike a few months ago and can vouch for the quality of the bike as well as the owner.

The seller is a gentleman named Don P, and he answered the call when I was looking for someone who had a classic Z1 to compare to the Z900RS I was reviewing at the time.

Don and I on his Z1 and the new Z900RS. I promise I’m still working on a video for this!

Nathan and I went up and met Don and we got a lot of great footage of his bike (VIN: Z1F-00265). Problem is, I’m still working on finalizing an edit of the video we created! Nevertheless, the bike itself is excellent and I’d have no problem personally bidding on it…if I had the cash. Early Z1s aren’t cheap, and I seriously doubt this example will stay under $20k for long.

The bike was restored by Greg Walker, and Don has so much information about the bike that he’s created a website for it, which is required reading if you’re interested in putting it in your garage. The bike was previously on display at AMCA museums in New York and Pennsylvania, and it’s covered slightly under 1,200 miles since the restoration work was completed.
