This tiddler was Suzuki’s baby street scrambler – good for 59 miles per hour and 114 miles per gallon. This example still needs to be broken in as it has just 280 miles on the odometer.
The Maverick’s 4.9 horsepower, 49cc engine was paired with a 5-speed transmission and Suzuki’s “Posi-Force” lubrication, which eliminated the need to pre-mix. Total weight was just 165 pounds! In 1970, Suzuki introduced the AC50 as a successor to the Maverick – Motorcycle Classics has a great write-up on AC50 here.
This Maverick has very few miles though it is missing the front fender and it’s got a whole bunch of stickers on it. The title has been lost and the bike has been out of the DMV system for about 35 years but the carb has been serviced and it has a new battery and gearbox oil. The seller says it starts first kick and runs as it should. Find it for sale here on Craigslist in Los Angeles, California for $2,250.
