It looks like EMP (European Motorcycle Parts) has closed up shop/converted into a motorcycle transport company, and the man behind it all (Brian Pierson) is letting go of some of his bikes. Currently available are a 2005 Ducati 749R, 2000 Ducati 996 Sport Production Special, and a 1993 Ducati MK1 900SL.
The seller goes into a good amount of detail on each bike on DucCutters, but here’s the basics:
2005 Ducati 749R (called Project Track Bike):
“Brand new” 224 miles bike with Ohlins suspension and steering damper plus titanium connecting rods and valves. The factory R bike got a larger fuel tank and carbon fiber belt covers – the seller has pulled them off to keep them preserved. In addition you’ll get race fairings, LeoVince exhaust, Brembo RCS clutch/brake master cylinders, and more. THe suspension has been sprung and valved for a 220 pound rider. Available for $8,500.
2000 Ducati 996 Sport Production Special (called the Lady in Red):
Apparently it’s always been the seller’s dream bike, and he’s put an impressive 24,000 miles on it. The SPS got a whole bunch of factory goodies but the seller has gone even further with Marchesini magnesium wheels, a lighter clutch basket, Fast by Ferracci clipons, and more.
1993 Ducati MK1 900SL (called Project Super Light):
My favorite of the three, the Superlight was a project with the goal of building “a trick resto-mod but leave the bike looking stock at the same time.” The upgrades are all period – Ohlins DU-235 shock, Race Tech fork internals, Brembo Mk2 master cyclinders for brake and clutch, Yoyodyne clutch slave cylinder, Woodcraft rear sets…the list goes on and on.
The seller says “these are the nicest of their breeds and opportunities like this do not come up often.” He’s the second owner of the 749R and 900SL and the 3rd owner of the 996SPS. Find these Ducatis for sale in Long Beach, California here on Craiglist.
