Post Sale Update: This DT100 sold for $3,556 after a healthy 58 bids on eBay!
Yamaha’s DT100 was never a world-beater, but after 40+ years of existence it’s hard to find one that’s been ridden as little as this one!
This example (VIN: 558-0011250) shows just 2.9 miles on the odometer, and it’s being offered by third party on behalf of the owner, whose family apparently won it as part of a contest thrown by a local TV/radio station in Waterloo, Iowa called KWWL where contestants had to guess the VIN number. It was ridden from the dealership and then parked in the garage with 2.7 miles on the bike. Oddly, it did not leave the garage until April, 42 years later. The seller drained the tank, cleaned the petcock, and installed a new battery to verify that the bike still works:
Everything is said to work, and the only non-original part is said to be the battery. Flaws include degradation of the clear coat, a paint chip on the front fender, and mild surface rust in a few spots like the pegs, cylinder jug, and rear brake lever. That’s all minor – a bigger issue is some “light rust” inside the tank, which should be cleaned out.
