Post-Sale Update: After 18 bids on eBay, this R25/3 sold for $10,701.
Duane Ausherman is a former BMW dealer and expert in /2 and /5 models. Unfortunately, it seems like he’s now letting go of some of his bikes due to health concerns, which means this R25/3 that was restored in the 80s is now in need of a new owner. Duane has only had this bike since 2013, but during that time he brought it back to riding condition with some parts sourced from Vech.
The R25/3 was an evolution of the R24, and in the process it gained a rear suspension, new hydrualic forks, and some styling changes. The 250cc single produced 13 horsepower. For all the information you’d want on the R25, check out BMW Dean’s page on the model!
This example has had some minor parts replaced recently (and the tank is claimed to be NOS), but the seat is original. There are some small cosmetic issues like scratches, imperfections on the chrome on the handlebars, etc. But this is a beautiful bike that could either be shown and ridden – now the issue is the price. I was under the impression that even the nicest of these were worth something in the low 5 digits, but the seller notes that the reserve on this bike is a six digit number. Have I gone crazy? Someone help me out here.
