Post Listing Update: This Bayliss rep did not meet reserve despite 22 bids up to $12,100 on eBay.
In 2002, Ducati released two race replicas based on the 998S – one of Ben Bostrom’s bike, and one of Troy Bayliss’. 400 examples were built of the latter, which commemorated Troy’s 2001 WSBK championship.
2002 was the first year of the 998, and Ducati offered the base 998, the 998S, and the 998R. The middle-of-the-road “S” model got an Ohlins shock and steering damper, carbon fiber belly pan, revised brake calipers, and color-matched mirrors. Upgrades for the Bayliss replica obviously included the custom livery, but it also came with Ohlins forks, more carbon fiber bodywork, and upgraded Brembo four-pot front brake calipers.
This example (VIN: ZDM1SB5V82B020586) has about 2,200 miles and a few extras, notably the Arrow exhaust, aftermarket levers, Sargent seat, and a carbon open clutch cover.
