Post Listing Update: This RZ did not get any interest at the opening bid ask of $10,000.
There have been a few Yamaha RZ350s featured on Bike-urious before. They were well cared for time machines, maintaining the legacy of Kenny Roberts and two-strokes alike. At the time, twin carbs and two strokes made for many smiles per gallon, and you could brag to your friends about the Yamaha Power Valve System derived from GP racing.
30 year later, a few people have taken liberties with the RZ350 and created neck breaking customs. This model has been stroked to 392cc, and the front end has been replaced by inverted and adjustable units from a 2007 Yamaha R1, with dual disc brakes to match. Other highlights included a one off swingarm, and a California title. The Kenny Roberts signature of approval was left alone on the bullet fairing. For more on the RZ350, check out this “Classics Remembered” piece by Kevin Cameron on Cycle World.
This bike offers one man’s take on the perfect synergy between old world engine technology and modern levels of control for a $10,000 asking price. Beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder…what do you guys think?
