A rare find in the US, Montesa’s H7 generation of Enduros was avaiable in 80, 250, and 360cc variants. Here’s an impressively original example of the big brother that “has been stored in climate controlled storage since new.”
The 360 (349.6cc) engine was paired with a 6-speed transmission, 36mm Bing carb, Marzocchi forks, and Betor shocks. It also had a 2.9 gallon fuel tank and a top speed of 80 miles per hour. It weighed just 250 pounds, which oddly was the same claimed weigh as the 250 model. In period advertisements, Montesa was glad to show off that Carlos Mas had won the Spanish Enduro championships on Montesas five years in a row before this model was announced, calling it a “unprecedented triumph that endorses the technical quality of Montesa’s all-terrain models.”
The seller of this example notes that there is no rus or corrosion though there’s some paint chips on the frame and some minor boot rub on the engine cases. He’s run it before but he used an external tank so the tank on the bike “is not stained.” It’ll need a recommissioning if you want to ride it, but finding parts could be difficult. i suspect this will be a display bike forever more…
