Post Sale Update: This “New Blue” sold for $50,200 after 77 bids on eBay in Suffield, Connecticut.

Almost a decade ago, legendary Ducati tuners NCR created a race bike based on the Paul Smart and called it New Blue – it shaved off 20% of the weight while gaining approximately 40% more power, and was full of trick components. I’ve only featured one before and it had an asking price of $75,000. This one seems to already have met reserve at less than half of that number.

Public response to New Blue (an homage to Old Blue) was positive, so NCR homologated it with 50 examples. Weight came down from 414 to 330 pounds, and power was bumped up to 116 horses. As you can imagine, the componentry was impressive and expensive – Ohlins suspension, Brembo monobloc brakes, NCR electronics, Zard titanium exhaust, NCR clutch, BST carbon fiber wheels, Poggipolini titanium fasteners…you get the idea. For more on this impressive bike, check out NCR’s site or enjoy this brief video from MCN:

This example is #4 out of 50, and it has just 45 miles on it. It’s pictured in track bodywork but the sale includes the original bodywork and leather Schedoni seat. The sale also includes a cover and stand.
