Post Listing Update: This CB750 got no interest at the asking price of $49,000.

Vic World has earned himself the nickname of “Mr. CB750” thanks to decades of expertise and restorations of sandcast motors. In his words, “we take those parts and assemble a dream. The restored bike will look, run, and feel virtually identical to the legendary machines that rolled off Honda’s production line back in 1969. It will come complete with period correct Dunlop tires, NOS gauges (showing zero miles), NOS keys, NOS Honda touch-up paint, an original shop manual, an original owner’s manual, and approximately 475 other NOS parts. Now you can own a piece of motorcycle history.” This bike was restored by Vic back in 2009 and it has zero miles on it since.

In hindsight, the Honda CB750 was a tremendous sales success, but when Soichiro Honda introduced the bike he utilized cheap/rough sandcast molds for the engine before it was clear that there would be enough demand to justify buying expensive metal molds. The first 7,414 bikes are known as sandcast CB750s for that reason, and they command a hefty premium.

According to the seller, he took this bike in as partial payment for a CB750 prototype that he sold Vic years ago. If you don’t remember that prototype, it sold for $148,100 in 2014 and the story is worth re-reading.

This bike is frame #405 with motor #448. Per Vic’s page, he’ll sell you one of his immaculate restorations for $42,500. This seller is looking for nearly $50k. Why? Possibly because the inside of the left side cover has been signed by Bob Hansen and his tuner Bob Jameson, two gentlemen who had big impact in Honda’s earlier days in the US.
