Over at Iconic we’ve sold plenty (over 40) RC30s, but I wanted to point out this specific example as it’s one of the “Bol d’Or” branded RC30s that was created specifically for the French market. Now it’s in Los Angeles, it has just 425 miles, and it’s been freshly serviced so that it’s ready to ride if the next owner doesn’t just want to keep it on display.
Seeing as the US didn’t officially receive the RC30 until 1990, it makes more sense to compare this to the compare this 1988 French model to the first year of RC30 production: 1987, when just 1,000 were made in total and all were offered in Japan. The French bike got bigger headlights, more power (the JDM bike was restricted to 77 horsepower), and a Bol d’Or logo on the fairing (instead of the usual “Force V4”).
One of our clients sent us a copy of the press release that Honda France published to announce this bike – it’s an interesting read (if you can read French) and you can check it out here.
This example (VIN: RC302001726) has 685 kilometers (425 miles) on the odometer. It came to us out of a collection where it had been sitting for years, so we cleaned the carbs, flushed all the fluids, and replaced a few parts: fork seals, intake manifolds, water pump o-ring, and the fuel valve. We also had some paintwork touched up and the fork lowers vapor blasted. The only modification appears to be a MRA windscreen.
Find this RC30 for sale in Santa Monica, California with bidding up to $27,600 and the reserve not yet met here on Iconic Motorbike Auctions.
