Did you like the stats but not the price of last week’s Zaeta? Prepare yourself. When Kawasaki introduced the KX500 motcrosser in 1983, Dirt Bike magazine called it “unrideable” and “violent.” The bike didn’t change all that much over the years (in fact, from 1994 till it was killed off in 2004, it didn’t change at all), which means it’s a great platform for someone insane that wants an absurd supermoto.
The stock KX500 engine put out 55 horsepower, but this example’s had some work done: the engine’s been ported and polished and a Wiseco piston so the seller claims this puts out approximately 70 horsepower. Other modifications include a Clarke 4 gallon tank, DNA KX450 rims, Uni pod filter, rebuilt forks and shock, and LED lighting. It’s a dedicated supermoto at this point, you won’t be getting an parts for the dirt. In the seller’s words, this bike is “terrifying. Incredible. Awesome. Life altering. Scary. Visceral. Power wheelies in every gear.” You get the idea.
