Introduced in 2003, the Ducati Multistrada 1000 was quickly complemented by a smaller (620) model. Multistrada translates to “many roads’, and the idea was that you’d get ADV comfort for all day riding without the pretensions of going off-road with a heavy beast. The initial run had some teething problems – not in terms of reliability but in terms of minor design issues like a side stand that was too short and made it easy for the bike to tip over and an uncomfortable seat. Ducati made a revision in 2005 and introduced the “S” model with the goodies you want. Here’s an example of the S that’s barely been ridden – go change that!
In 2005, Ducati lengthened the sidestand, created better seats, took the optional “touring” screen from the previous model and made it standard, and improved the mirrors – basically, they made it better to ride for long distances. The S model received a thicker handlebar for less vibration, carbon fiber front fender/belt covers, and mostly importantly, Öhlins suspension.
