If you want a city commuter that will really stand out from the crowd, consider this piece of East German history. TS stood for Telescopic Fork and Swingarm, letting you know that this bike was fully suspended. MZ offered the TS line in a few displacements – this was the medium sized 150. Somehow, this little bike has just 87 miles on it.
The 150cc produced approximately 10 horsepower and it was available in standard or luxury models with flat or high bars. In general, they were designed to be cheap transportation for riders getting to work. It could still serve the same purpose today, just with an extreme dose of quirkiness.
This example is claimed to run and ride very well. According to the seller, the story is that this was owned by someone who never titled the machine (but did get a Vermont registration). He installed a Mikuni carb and then only put about 30 miles on it before it presumably was stored. The seller acquired it recently, rode it 50 miles this summer, and is now selling it. I’m pleasantly surprised that the seller more than doubled the mileage of this bike in the last few months – I would have expected that he’d want to keep the odometer as low as possible. The bike isn’t perfect: there’s surface rust on the inside of the tank, the chrome is failing, and a few small pieces are missing.
