SP = Sport Production, and it was a variant of the 900 SuperSport that was only available in North America. Here’s one that takes things up to 11 thanks to a series of impressive modifications.
If you’re looking for performance, this was the version of the SS that you wanted, thanks to the wider rear rim, fully adjustable front and rear suspension, aluminum swingarm, carbon fiber front fender/clutch cover, and a full fairing. This example goes even further with a 944cc kit w/ 11:1 high compression pistons, Dyna ignition, Keihin FCR 41mm carbs, Nichols lightened flywheel, lightened/balanced internals, and a full Staintune exhaust. And that’s just what’s happening with the drivetrain. There’s also Marchesini magnesium wheels, Superlite sprockets, and the forks and shock have been modified by Race Tech.
It has 13,276 miles and the seller says that it’s not museum quality but it’s in “excellent shape” for the age and mileage. It’s been recently tuned by Ducati guru Doug Lofgren and it’s ready to go.
