Norton used the “Interpol” name twice in their history: the first time was for a police bike based on the Commando, and the second time was for what you see here – a police bike built between 1984 and 1989 utilizng their twin rotor 588cc rotary engine. With that said, this bike has been customized (and as the seller puts …
1960 Pannónia 250 TLF
Speaking of motorcycles from former Communist Bloc countries, here’s one from Hungary. One of the things I love about writing for Bike-urious is that it occasionally sends me down a very deep internet rabbit hole, to dig up information about brands that I thought were dead ─ like JAWA, which I mentioned recently ─ or had never heard of, like …
1980 JAWA 350 Type 634
Quick note at the top here: the seller has misidentified this bike as a Model 364. That’s a typo. As far as I’m aware, JAWA never sold a Model 364. This is, in fact, a Model (although, JAWA uses the word “Type”) 634. Anyway, they still make JAWAs, apparently. I didn’t know that. In fact, they still manufacture this exact …
2021 Janus Halcyon 250
Based in Goshen, Indiana, Janus Motorcycles has been steadily growing in size since they started in the early 2010s – both in terms of sales as well as the displacements they offer! The original models utilized a 2-stroke 50cc engine, but now you can get 4-strokes in either 250 or 450 cubic centimeters.
Drixton Framed in Europe – 197x Honda CB350
Over at Iconic, we’re about to do some business with Oliver Lomas (the son of Jim Lomas, of JL Exhausts fame) to help distribute JollyMoto exhausts and during my reserach I found that they’ve also got some cool bikes for sale. Here’s a great example – a Drixton-framed Honda CB350!
AHRMA Racer – 1973 BMW R75/5
My buddy Don is selling a BMW R75/5 that has a lot of promise as a Formula 750 race bike in AHRMA – please buy it so that I have another friend at the race (and so I don’t buy it myself)! In Don’s words: “It was built and raced many years ago by noted Texas racer, Floyd Crow. The …
From the Quail to On Sale: Revival Cycles’ “Odioso” Ducati Sidecar Crosser
11-19-2024 Update: Six years later, Odioso is still on the market but it’s back at Revival. Find it for sale in Austin, Texas for $15,000 here on BikeEXIF Classifieds.
“NorCeptor” – Norton Commando Frame with Honda Interceptor Engine
We’ve covered all sorts of hybrids over the years – Tritons, Norleys, even a “Grumph”. But here’s a first for me – a Norton frame stuffed with a Honda Interceptor V4 engine…
1966 Simplex Sportsman Senior
Fellow Americans, you don’t know how lucky you are. I live in England at the moment, and I’m aware that there’s a perception that motorcycling is more dynamic in the UK and Europe. That may be somewhat true in the variety of motorcycle types that get ridden here but I can assure you: American classified ads are way more fun.
2000 Excelsior-Henderson Super X
The world of motorcycling has always been heavily populated by dreamers and charlatans. I suppose such a statement could be applied to most business sectors, but in motorcycling it can be particularly hard to tell who is who. Is a person naive or nefarious; sometimes even the person themself doesn’t know.
Flying Fortress – 2017 Moto Guzzi MGX-21
Not so many years ago, I got a chance to visit Moto Guzzi’s factory in Mandello del Lario, Italy, where the iconic brand has been producing bikes for more than 100 years. As we were being shown around, our factory guide pointed to a gated opening in a nearby cliff.
Four Kilometers – 2000 MV Agusta F4 750
Seeing as I was just whining about the looks of MV’s newest bike and hoping that they’ll bring back the F4, it only seems fair to share an early example of the original…with just two and half miles on it, to boot!
1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 A2
That is a very pretty KZ. Not exactly stock (your mileage may vary on the aesthetic appeal of those blacked-out pipes, for example), but gorgeous nonetheless.
Picture Intermission – MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro
A client came by this week with one of the most expensive motorcycles currently available for sale – the $70,098 (!) MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro. I had to snap some photos – what do you think of it?
Pikes Peak Racer – 2015 KTM 1290 Super Duke R
Raced by my buddy Rennie Scaysbrook as part of Team Cycle News at the 2015 running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, this Super Duke R was sold to a private party in 2019 through our auction site (Iconic) but the new owner doesn’t have room for it and the extensive amount of spare parts any more.
