Also known as the CB700SC, the Nighthawk S was an interesting bike designed to avoid the 45% tax imposed on imported bikes of 700cc or bigger. Despite the ‘smaller’ engine, this bike was faster than many of its 750cc competitors, and the press loved it. Honda killed this bike after only a couple of years, leaving it to become a cult classic for passionate owners nowadays. This example stands out as it comes with a staggering amount of extras.
The 696cc inline four engine produced 80 horsepower, good for a top speed of about 120 miles per hour. It’s a little heavier than I expected at 516 pounds – and all those pounds were available for a MSRP of $3,398. For more on the Nighthawk S, check out this article from Motorcycle Classics, who call it “An American Hot Rod.”
This example (VIN: JH2RC2003EM011088) has 15,698 miles and the seller calls it a 8 out of 10 cosmetically. It’s also said to run great, but what really blows me away is how many factory extras the seller has:
“Replacement NEW OEM HONDA pickup coil
Fresh 15w40 Rotella T oil
Brand new K&N oil filter
UNI Foam air filter
NOS Chrome Hondaline cargo rack
NOS Honda shop manual
NOS Cobra F1 Slip ons
Nice Factory cut header for slip ons
Very nice matching red CORBIN saddle
Matching red BELL motorcycle helmets
Aftermarket Chrome tri bar engine gaurd
HONDALINE Red sport saddlebags
HONDALINE saddlebag rain covers
HONDALINE Black magnetic tank bag
Factory fork reflectors
Very nice factory tool kit
Replaced rear signal stays
New brake and clutch levers will be installed”
Budget for extras shipping costs, the find this Nighthawk for sale in Dunkirk, New York with bidding up to $3,050 and the reserve not yet met here on eBay.
