An evolution of the Harley-Davidson Pacer, the Scat was a dual-sport variant differentiated with some bolt on parts. This example has paperwork and a trophy showing that it was given a Junior Level award (the seller doesn’t make it clear if it’s First or Second Level) at an AMCA event.
By 1964, the Pacer and the Scat had a new frame with rear suspension to envelope the 175cc motor. Changes for the Pacer included softer seat springs, dual-sport tires, an optional low final drive ratio from the Ranger (full off-road model), and some “high” parts – the handlebars, front fender, and exhaust.
This Scat is claimed to be un-molested with the original paint. Everything is said to work and it includes the optional 84-tooth rear sprocket from the Ranger. Head on over to Fort Sutter’s AMCA page to get more details on what a “Junior” award from the AMCA means, then find this Scat for sale here on Craigslist in Olive Branch, Mississippi for $3,800.
