Tornax was a German motorcycle company that was in business from 1925 to 1955. Prior to 1934 they imported motors and some components from England, but the National Socialist Party made those sorts of imports illegal. Unlike most German manufacturers, Tornax stayed in business by utilizing motors made in Germany.
In 1952 Tornax made several models ranging from 125 to 250cc. Their VT 250 motor (made by ILO) was copied by Yamaha and became the basis for their V Twins. The V175 was a 175cc two stroke single that made 9.5 HP. Hydraulic front forks and rear shocks with a 4 speed transmission pushed the top speed near 60 mph.
This Tornax V 175 is in Norcross, Georgia at Blue Moon Cycles. It is said to run great and looks like an incredible survivor. Asking price is $7,495 and you can see all the particulars here on Cycle Trader. It really is a good looking rare German.
