Over the last year or so, you’ve probably seen that I’m a huge fan of the track day events that Aprilia puts on under the name of Aprilia Racers Days. Well, the Italian firm also puts on events for those of you that like to get dirty. They call it the Tuareg Experience, and this February you can join them for a guided tour through one of my favorite places to ride (Baja California) on one of my favorite adventure bikes (the Tuareg 660)!
I first got a taste of the Tuareg at the international press launch in Sardinia – I covered that story for RevZilla. But the riding at that event was mostly on-road. It wouldn’t be until I joined Motorcycle.com for a story in South Dakota a few months ago that I had the chance to really see what the Tuareg could do off-road…and I loved it.
Here’s your chance to do the same with a trip from February 16th to February 23rd in Baja! Per Aprilia:
“The experience is a guided adventure which includes rental of an Aprilia Tuareg 660, as well as all meals and lodging. Spanning 6 total days, the activity begins in San Diego, California in a loop that brings the tour on and off-road to Ensenada, San Felipe, Bay of LA, Cataviña and back north for an unforgettable journey that celebrates the best mix of dirt, asphalt, sea salt and petrol. Join Aprilia in the third North American activity of its kind, crossing borders and terrain, on the adventure categories most exciting new offering.
The tour will include a limited group participation, with an expectation of riding most of the day on each day, over a variety of technical roads and environments. Experienced motorcyclists, with a minimum intermediate capability of experience in dual-sport are encouraged to join. The itinerary will cover more than 1000 miles, over six days, which is detailed below.”
Also, Aprilia’s recently announced the 2024 model which is basically the same as before with three new colorways, so I’ll use this post as an excuse to share all the colors. The feature image is in the “Dakar Podium” livery, and below you’ll see “Canyon Sand” and “Atreides Black.”
You’ll head from San Diego to Bahia de Los Angeles and back (different routes each way) and hopefully make some friends along the way. If you’re interested in learning more, you can check out Aprilia’s site here. Hope you enjoy!
Aprilia’s also doing a 3-day event in New Mexico from May 29-June 2nd…but you should go to Baja!
