Reader David N. has just tipped me off to an estate sale that will be happening in a couple of weeks in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It’s an impressive one owner lot that features over 50 vintage motorcycles. Here are my 5 favorites:
Unfortunately, it’s not clear from the online listing which bikes are running and which aren’t, so keep that in mind:
1947 Gilera Saturno Sport – also known as the Milano Manx, a racing version of this bike went on to win San Remo 5 straight times – Gilera ended up renaming the model the Saturno San Remo to commemorate that.
1952 Vincent Series C Rapide – I don’t think this one needs any explanation.
1956 Panther M100 – featuring the distinctive “Sloper” motor, these bikes were well-suited for sidecar duty.
1958 Zundapp Challenger – Also known as the 200S, I’ve been asked to keep my eye out for one of these for a couple of Bike-urious readers. Not a big fan of the paint scheme, though.
1966 Marusho Magnum 500 – A copy of the BMW 500cc /2, some people think this was actually a better bike (ignoring what I consider to be a much uglier tank design).
Here’s a photo gallery of all the available lots. Happy hunting!
