One of the requests I got from the Reader Survey was to update y’all with the results of featured bike listings. I thought that was a good idea – hopefully you’ve seen in the past that I sometimes update a post with the final sale price, if I’m able to find it. But that requires you to go back in the past. So I’m going to try something new at the end of each month where I look back at what I thought were the most interesting features, and then let you know what the final sale prices were. Let’s take a look at August 2016.
Obviously, this will only include listings from eBay (or other auction sites). I unfortunately have no way of finding out final sale prices of bikes offered on Craigslist/Cycle Trader/Kijiji/etc. With that said, here are some highlights from last month:

Born Free Best Chopper – 1963 Harley-Davidson FL Panhead – sold for $19,600 after 27 bids on eBay in Seattle, Washington.
BONUS SECTION: Doc Harms’ crazy builds!
1999 Royal Enfield/Buell Custom – sold for $3,050 after 15 bids in Tampa, Florida.
1946 Triumph…Something – after 23 bids on eBay, this Doc custom sold for $2,876 in Tampa, Florida.
Here’s some stuff that didn’t sell:
1982 Kawasaki 650 CSR Cafe Racer – did not meet reserve despite 29 bids up to $6,000 in Wildomar, California.
Barnfind Racer – 1951 BSA 500 – it’s been relisted a few times. The highest bid total was $7,100, but that wasn’t enough to meet reserve in Boring, Oregon.
Unexpected Custom – 1971 Harley-Davidson/Aermacchi Sprint 350 – did not meet reserve at $4,008.88 after 24 bids in Ashland, Oregon.
Military Cutaway – 1942 Harley-Davidson WLA – did not meet reserve at $37,100 with 30 bids on eBay.
Could It Be? 1933 NSU Twin Engine Custom – did not meet reserve with bidding up to $12,200 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Period Road Racer – 1976 Ducati 900SS – did not meet reserve despite 50 bids up to $15,105 in the UK.
Old and New – 1975 Honda “CB450R” – did not get any action at the opening bid of $3,550 in Dublin, Ohio.
Telaio Rosso in Italy – 1971 Moto Guzzi V7 Sport – despite 20 bids up to $17,000, this Telaio Rosso did not meet reserve in Alcheda, Italy.
Anything surprise you? The Harleys caught me off guard – I can’t believe $37,100 wasn’t enough to sell the WLA cutout or that it took $9,500 to buy the Baja.
