Post Listing Update: this YDS3 did not get any action at the BIN of $37,995 on eBay.
Starting with a YDS3 (Yamaha’s “Big Bear Scrambler”), the creator of this custom turned it into a replica of the Batcycle used in the 1966 Batman TV show.
The 250cc engine produced 27 horsepower, good for a top speed of 82 miles per hour. Though called a Scrambler, the base YDS3 was somewhat heavy and was best ridden on the pavement, anyway. Period reviews from magazines like Cycle World had lots of praise for this little Yammie: ‘a comfortable riding position, a fine ride in addition to the fine handling, and a quality of finish and construction that is really remarkable.’ For more on what the Big Bear became, check out this Retrospective on Rider.
This example (VIN: Y2320570) has less than 5,000 miles and the seller says that everything works. The sidecar is detachable if you wish to go solo. The only piece that 60s Batman might be confused by is the Pioneer stereo system with screen which includes a backup camera. There’s also programmable LED lights underneath.
