One of the true giant-killers in motorcycling history, the Yamaha RD400C was given plenty of praise by reviewers when it first came out. It had plenty of power, it didn’t weigh much, you could handle it with relative confidence, and even the brakes were decent. All that, and the price wasn’t bad either. Nearly 40 years later, expectations have changed about what a motorcycle is capable of, but the RD400 is still possibly as good as it gets when it comes to air-cooled two-strokers on the street.
For more on why that’s the case, check out this write-up from Motorcycle Trader written by Ian Falloon, who suggests that it “delivered race performance to the masses.”
This specific Yamaha RD400C has just undergone a 2+ year restoration projected where “nothing was untouched or overlooked.” The pictures look great, the but the seller says they don’t do the bike justice.
