Built by Jeff Veraldi, this custom BMW K100 cafe racer looks great and served as a bit of therapy for him – unfortunately he burst a vertebrae in an off-road truck race and almost was paralyzed during the build. Finishing this bike became part of his “physical, occupational, and mental therapy”.
You can see the majority of his work through the images, and I’m a fan of most of it. Something to note – he swapped the side stand to the right, which helps with one of the very few flaws of the flying brick. Normally, when the bike is parked on the side stand, oil tends to drain into the cylinders. This new side stand layout will help prevent that.
This bike (VIN: 0012614) was brought over from Japan by a US serviceman, then it sat for 10 years. As part of the build, it got braide brake lines, a new coilover, rebuilt front forks, dual GPS cluster, and lots of new maintenance-oriented parts. The sole flaw seems to be a minimal oil leak from the rear main engine seal (“a drop a week”). Due to the seller’s injury, it has just 120 miles on it since the work was done, so hopefully you can add to that.
