The Distinguished Gentlemans Ride (DGR) is an international event created to raise money and awareness for the men’s health programs of the Movember Foundation. On Sunday, September 25th, well-dressed riders all around the world will hop on their classic and vintage styled bikes and become part of the world’s largest motorcycling charity event. Want to help out?
Obviously the best thing to do would be to ride yourself – though you’ll want to make sure that you follow the theme with regards to your outfit and bike. But if you’re like me and you can’t make it for some reason (I’ll be dirt bike camping out in Gorman that weekend – hope you’ll be riding, too!), then hopefully one of your friends will be riding and you can donate to the cause. If that’s not possible, then may I suggest a worthy recipient for your donation? There are currently 32,966 registered riders, and one of them is none other than The Vintagent – Paul D’Orleans, who’s going to be riding a Velocette Clubman. He’s actually one of the Ambassadors for the DGR this year, and more importantly he’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet in the world of motorcycling. So if you want to donate but don’t have someone specific to donate to, I’d suggest that you follow my lead and donate to Paul’s ride.
I mean, how could you not want to support that guy? =)
Seriously though – it’s a great cause and it’s centered around a motorcycle ride. Doesn’t get much better than that! Head here to learn more about where the funding goes – specifically towards prostate cancer research as well as men’s mental health and suicide prevention programs. Go here for the FAQ. Or just go here to help Paul out!
Thanks for helping,
Abhi
