Black and Gold – 1978 BMW R100RS

2-11 Update: After being relisted countless times, including some BIN offers, this BMW R100RS is back up for sale with an opening bid of $2,599. Hopefully the reserve is low enough to actually be sold this time

The BMW R100RS was the flagship of BMW’s late 70s lineup. With the world’s first full factory fairing, it was Germany’s answer to Japan’s big tourers like the Goldwing. By some accounts, it was also the greatest motorcycle ever made.

BMW R100RS - Right Side

The BMW R100RS had 70 horsepower and was capable of 124 miles per hour. It was incredibly reliable and a great touring bike – whether or not you thought it was a work of art or bulbous is a matter of personal preference.

This specific R100RS is a Euro model, which means it comes with the headlight on/off switch. You’ll also get a longer front fender, powdercoated wheels, upgraded forks, brakes, and rear bag mounts (though they’re not shown, and no bags are included). The interesting black and gold paint scheme works well with the beautiful matching Ohlins rear shocks.
