Update: Turns out that since I wrote up this preview, Bonham’s has added many more motorcycles to the listing. Check out the full list and the link below.
This auction preview is going international – specifically to Beaulieu National Motor Museum in Hampshire, United Kingdom for a Bonham’s auction on September 6, 2014. Of the featured vehicles, 10 are some fantastic motorcycles. Here’s my top 3.
1930 Scott Flying Squirrel with Scott Sidecar – Based on Scott’s successful TT machines, the Flying Squirrel was an instant classic. This example was owned by a past president of the Scott Owner’s Club for over 35 years, is numbers matching, and comes with a genuine Scott Sports sidecar.
1956 Douglas Dragonfly – The swan song of Douglas Motorcycle Company, the Dragonfly was built around a 348cc flat twin that produced 17 horsepower, capable of getting the bike up to 70 miles per hour. This bike is in the alternative factory livery and is a numbers matching example.
1966 Lambretta LI 125 – a replica of the Lambretta Li150 that was ridden by Jimmy in Quadrophenia (and which sold at a Bonham’s auction for over $60,000), this scoot was built to promote the same movie when it was re-released in 2008 on DVD. Comes with a certificate from the film production company.
