The BMW K100RS was a pleasant sport tourer in its day, and the flying brick platform is having a bit of a renaissance as a platform for custom builds right now. Some people saw fit to modify the bike when it was new, including RB Racing when they built approximately 200 kits to turbocharge the K100 motor. Here’s serial #3, and it’s been attached to a K100RS for the last 3 decades.
The RB Racing website never fails to make me laugh – whether or not you agree with the tone you can’t argue that they’re not direct. Head on over to their site to get more history on this turbo kit, and to see a picture of this exact bike for sale as well. RB claims that at one point (with a much more aggressive kit) they were able to get 309 horsepower from the K100 motor which was good for 206 miles per hour at an SCTA El Mirage meet. It’s unclear exactly how much power this example is putting down but RB claims that they’ve seen 180 hp from their early K100 kits on street gas.
This example is said to be in “mint condition” and the turbo was recently rebuilt by XSBoost Turbochargers. Find this turbo RS for sale in Mystic, Connecticut for $7,500 here on Craigslist.
